AZ’s Largest Mural & Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Park Place

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Park Place Mall, 5870 E Broadway Blvd, on Friday, October 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an unforgettable evening of culture, art, and tradition. FREE ADMISSION.

Witness the live painting of Arizona’s largest mural by renowned local artist Jessica Gonzales, while enjoying captivating dance performances by Ballet Folklorico Tapatio. Bring the whole family to engage in art activities, soak in the vibrant atmosphere near the food court, and savor local cuisine from a variety of food vendors. Be among the first 300 attendees with a receipt from any local retailer or food vendor and receive authentic Mexican pastries and candy. Join us for this vibrant celebration of heritage, art, and community!

Work is underway on Arizona’s largest outdoor mural at Tucson’s Park Place Mall. Painted by local artist Jessica Gonzales, the impressive artwork will span a staggering 26,000 square feet. Gonzales’s proposal was selected for its unique ability to capture the essence of Tucson and resonate with visitors of all ages. The mural is in progress and expected to be completed by the end of the month. “We’re excited to support our local art community in a meaningful way and enhance the beauty of our Center with this incredible piece,” said Brighid Dawson, general manager of Park Place Mall. “This mural is a testament to the talent and creativity of our community and will be a wonderful addition to Tucson’s cultural landscape.”

“I wanted the artwork to convey the impact of standing before a majestic saguaro,” said Gonzales. “Tucson is a renowned destination for mural art, and I’m honored to contribute a piece that showcases our desert’s beauty on such a large scale.”Live Performances with Ballet Folklorico Tapatio

Ballet Folklórico Tapatío is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1997 under the direction of master dance instructor Sergio Valle and the leadership of owner and founder Eduardo Baca Sr., and with the help and support of Lupe Klein Aviles. Today the ballet is under the artistic direction of the young and talented Jose Luis Baca. Ballet Folklórico Tapatío is based in South Tucson and draws its membership from the local Tucson community. Ballet Folklórico Tapatío has over 150 members participating in four different levels: Pequeños, Principiantes, Infantil, Juvenil, Adultos, and Grupo Oficial. Ballet Folklórico Tapatío has performed throughout the United States and México and is recognized as one of the finest folklórico programs in the nation.

Ballet Folklórico Tapatío provides an avenue in which students can develop pride, self confidence, and self-esteem, while encouraging them to work within the community for positive change. The discipline we demand within our group is the discipline that prepares our youth for their educational pursuits as well as the workforce. Our goal of a healthy, productive community is achieved through the arts.
