Watermark’s “The Hacienda at the River” senior living community and the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute are partnering to present a free public educational seminar on innovations in brain health and dementia prevention. The event takes place next Monday, January 27, 2025, at 3:00 PM and will feature Dr. Matthew Malone, Director of the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute. Dr. Malone will share the latest breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s research and prevention strategies.
“There are many new diagnostic capabilities as well as recent FDA approvals of new Alzheimer treatments,” said Marjorie Pazzi, Banner Director of Clinical Research. “We want to get this information out into the community.”
The presentation will cover the eight key pillars of brain health and provide attendees with actionable steps to maintain cognitive wellness. Following Dr. Malone’s talk, Research Director Marjorie Pazzi will discuss a groundbreaking public clinical trial opportunity for individuals over 65 who are currently cognitively healthy but may be at risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease.
This pioneering study will utilize blood testing to identify potential early markers of cognitive decline, allowing for intervention before symptoms appear. The research represents a significant step forward in pre-symptomatic Alzheimer’s detection and treatment.
“Watermark Retirement Communities’ The Hacienda at the River is at the forefront in senior wellness programming. We are proud to host this informative and pioneering event for our residents and the Tucson public,” said Lisa Terry-Jones, Membership Director of The Hacienda at the River.
The event will be held at The Hacienda at the River. Seating is limited, and an RSVP is required. Members of the public interested in attending should please call (520) 900-1274 to reserve a seat.
