Chicago-born alternative rock and metal artist Blake Red unleashes her explosive new single “Scorpion”, a hard-hitting anthem that calls out those who prey on the innocent. With razor-sharp guitar riffs, unflinching lyrics, and a venomous vocal delivery, Blake Red proves once again that she’s unafraid to challenge convention and confront darkness head-on.
Produced by Blake Red and mixed/mastered by GRAMMY-winning producer Darryl Swann (Macy Gray, Black Eyed Peas), “Scorpion” features powerhouse drums by Tom McGeoch and Blake’s own blistering performance on guitar, bass, and vocals. The single is a sonic warning shot, a bold statement of strength.
“Scorpion describes a predator or any person who has bad intentions towards an innocent individual,” says Blake Red. “It’s sung from the point of view of someone who refuses to stay silent about harmful behavior.”
Coinciding with the single’s release, Blake Red will premiere the official “Scorpion” music video on August 29. The track serves as the first glimpse of her highly anticipated EP Out of the Cage, her first in four years, arriving October 3. Dedicated to the memory of her late father, the project captures Blake’s fearless return to the stage and the studio with uncompromising passion.
The single comes ahead of Blake Red’s EP release show in Chicago on October 3 at Epiphany Center for the Arts, marking an exciting new chapter for the Berklee College of Music graduate whose work fuses raw rock energy with fierce authenticity.
