BIGG VINNY DROPS “WALMART DRIP” & TOUR

Middle Tennessee’s Native Vencent Hickerson roots run deep in the Music City, as a second generation in Nashville’s music scene Hickerson was raised up looking up to his father’s legacy of music. Hickerson’s heritage runs strong in his genes as he has followed the footsteps of his father, his mentor being a phenomenal guitar player , who graced the stage as a touring musician for legends such as Loretta Lynn, Steve Miller Band, Alan Jackson, David Allen Coe and many more. With that inspiration, Hickerson took it to heart and set his sights on Nashville that set the stage for his career ahead. After playing every stage possible in Nashville, the singer-songwriter garnered himself a publishing deal and next would become the next stage that would change his life- to be signed to a major record company. Hickerson became one half of the band The Trailer Choir which later became signed to Toby Keith’s record label and was quickly nicknamed “Bigg Vinny” because he weighed in at astounding 426 lbs. The nickname stuck but not his trademark weight!

After a near death experience due to his obese weight, the country singer was chosen as a contestant on Season 12 of “ NBC’s The Biggest Loser.” The once obese man from Middle Tennessee shed the fat to become the svelte 242 lbs. Vinny’s voice now echoes far beyond the realms of music, reaching hearts as a motivational speaker and advocate for health and fitness. His very existence has become a living testament to the power of determination. Now, he is taking 2025 by storm with his anticipated single “Walmart Drip” which premiered on Wide Open Country, ahead of his appearance at this year’s CMA Fest. He will also be releasing an official video for the song on June 11th, starring N’SYNC’s Chris Kilpatrick, viral TikTok star-turned country favorite Tayler Holder, influencer Brad Lea, and former NFL linebacker Miles Burris.

On the new single, Vinny describes “Walmart Drip” as “what would happen if Toby Keith took Bruno Mars and Snoop Dogg on a Walmart Shopping spree!”

He continues, “This song came from a day of shopping at Walmart with my wife and kids. She said she just needed to get one thing which meant $500… When I was in there I saw a glorious swim suit set with a beach view and palm trees printed on it. I immediately put it on when we got home, I looked at my wife and said ‘dang girl look at all this DRIP!’ She told me to go inside and write the song right then! I brought in my songwriting mentor Ken Harrell and my wife Jenny Goforth Hickerson as songwriters to make sure we hit all the amazing parts of Walmart! Now we have a hit song and the music video features my buddies: Chris Kirkpatrick (from NSYNC), Miles Burris (leading actor in the Disney movie Safety and former Raiders linebacker, Tayler Holder (fellow artist and influencer with over 30 million followers) Marc ‘Butter’ Fortney (my former Duo partner, and the legendary Moon Trull) I’m also proud to feature my Mentor Ken Harrell, my wife and kids as well as Miles’ wife and kids in the video too.”

Outside of entertainment, Vinny founded Music with a Mission, a non-profit organization that strives to raise awareness of the vital role music programs play in schools. His creative spirit continues to soar as he pens melodies for renowned artists like Canaan Smith, Montgomery Gentry, and the band Hinder, just to name a few. Vinny’s creativity knows no bounds, together with his bandmate Marc “Butter” Fortney, crafted a poignant song which turned into a children’s book titled “The Bully,” spreading a message of compassion and kindness. to the youngest of readers.

Recently Vinny entered the podcast realm providing a relatable voice for those seeking guidance, motivation, and a good dose of laughter along the way as a co-host on “The Refined Life Podcast” alongside friends Jared Blake and Jeff Suter. Vinny’s also taken a leap into the business world, as an investor in The Buffalo River Resort. Creating a place for others to experience the joy of nature and relaxation. Currently, you can find Vinny gracing the stage, captivating audiences with his magnetic performance in the new Shriners Nashville Variety Show or traveling the country speaking, singing, and playing shows, touring with the Nashville Cartel. Vinny has taken his experiences and turned them into a powerful message that resonates with people from all walks of life. He continues to inspire others to embrace life’s challenges head-on, with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

Bigg Vinny has announced several shows throughout the spring and summer (see below), and will be continuing to release songs that will strike a relatable chord in fans throughout the remainder of 2025.

Terence Fixmer Shares Marcel Dettmann Remix Of “Evolve”

Terence Fixmer has shared a brand new remix by German techno powerhouse Marcel Dettmann, a reworking of “Evolve,” one of the stand out tracks from Fixmer’s recent album, THE PARADOX IN ME, out now on Mute / NovaMute.

Evolve (Marcel Dettmann Remix)” will feature on a new EP, Magnetic North, set for release on July 16th. The three-track EP also includes a remix of “‘Another End” by German techno producer / DJ, and founder of Recorded Things imprint, Oliver Rosemannand a new track, “Magnetic North,” which Fixmer explains, “serves as a bridge between THE PARADOX IN ME and the sound of my future album, which will lean towards the club, and be more techno, and hypnotic with raw sounds.”

Listen to the new remix HERE.

Talking about long-time friend and occasional collaborator Dettmann’s remix, Fixmer explains, “Marcel chose ‘Evolve’ to remix, he always likes tracks when I put my voice to it. I love the way it starts with a dubby direction, before developing into an electronic club sequence and bringing on the voice. Marcel is so creative, it’s an honour to share this remix.”

The new EP arrives on July 16 along with an extended edition of THE PARADOX IN ME, Fixmer’s second album for Mute / NovaMute. The new edition features three new tracks, “In Synthesis (Vocal Mix),” “Razor Sharp (Version Two),” and “Close to You (Live Version).”

On THE PARADOX IN ME he confronts this duality, stretching the limits of dance music by interlacing evocative, cinematic electronics with pounding, peak-time 4/4 pulses. “There’s always a fight between directions,” he says. “This album represents all the sounds I have within me.”

Fixmer burst onto the scene in the late ‘90s, establishing the Planete Rouge label in 1998 and releasing a slew of influential 12″s under a pseudonym before Muscle Machine, his acclaimed debut album which pioneered a new genre that merges the sounds of EBM and Techno.

Not long later, he achieved a personal milestone, collaborating with Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy for two albums as FixmerMcCarthy that bridged the gap between EBM and classic techno. Since then, he’s barely stopped for breath, remixing personal heroes like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb and Depeche Mode, as well as respected peers such as Ellen Allien, DJ Hell, Dave Clarke and Sven Väth, simultaneously building up a canon of work on CLR, Electric Deluxe, Ostgut-Ton and of course, Mute and NovaMute.

Fixmer’s passion for electronic music hums from every note and carefully engineered beat on the Magnetic North EP, and extended version of THE PARADOX IN ME, which plays almost like an autobiography, and assembles a world that’s tactile and strikingly visual, capturing the soul of the synthesizer in all its forms.

Taleen Kali Shares New Single & Tour

 “A shoegaze wonderland” – KEXP

You better check out this band” – Henry Rollins, KCRW

Joyful and expansive alt-rock with shades of Lush” – Bandcamp
Unexpected turns in melody, bringing to mind Debbie Harry” – Stereogum
Taleen Kali today shares her new single “Aepex” via Dum Dum Records, ahead of the band’s direct support tour with Ringo Deathstarr.

Hot off the heels of their critically renowned debut album Flower of Life, L.A.’s dark underground darlings Taleen Kali return with a densely crafted new song. “Aepex” represents an exciting, darker direction taken by the band, with influences ranging from The Horrors, Sextile, L.A. Witch, Tamaryn, Curve, Chapterhouse, and more.

“Aepex” features heavy breakbeat drums, Middle Eastern melodies, and swirling sheets of guitars enveloped in dark yet defined fuzz. The band’s signature mashup of post-punk, L.A. punk, and shoegaze finds itself moving from the light-hearted beach into the mystical desert realms, coalescing into a haunting gothic summer song that’s much needed during these dark times.
There’s a point after which you can’t keep driving up against the current anymore,” says Taleen. “You just want to pierce through it. I grew up in L.A. It’s my home. I love being in DIY community here. And yet sometimes being in the music scene during these dark political times can feel so daunting. Capitalism makes artists compete, turning us into content machines churning ourselves to a pulp. That’s where I got the idea for ‘Aepex.’ I don’t just want to keep pushing upward into oblivion. ‘Aepex’ is the pinnacle of pleasure. A crest. A threshold. It’s about how meaningless the chase can be and finding other ways to forge meaning, finding transcendence amidst chaos and madness. All of these elements started driving me toward a darker direction, both during the songwriting process and in the studio when we were redefining our sound.
Listen to “Aepex” HERE

“Aepex” is also an apt metaphor for the trajectory of Taleen Kali, who after being named an “Artist To Watch” on Alternative Press in 2024, played their first official SXSW showcase in 2025 and were invited on their first direct support tour with Ringo Deathstarr.

For the new era of sounds, the band returned to The Cave Studios to record with engineer and producer Josiah Mazzaschi (Light FM, Bizou, Child Seat) and enlisted the help of Chris King (Cold Showers, Kai Tak) in the mixing process. It’s the first time Taleen herself served as co-producer on an original track, and also the first time that bassist Miles Marsico played drums on a recording—a testament to their long standing collaboration as musicians.

“Aepex” also features a cameo solo from the band’s former guitarist Royce Hsu as a fond farewell, as well as their newest guitarist Genevieve Quiquivix, creating a bridge between the old and new iterations of the band. The single includes percussion contributions from the band’s touring drummer Anthony Schillaci, marking Taleen Kali as more of a punk collective than a regular band.

Taleen Kali will culminate the West Coast Ringo Deathstarr tour in San Francisco on June 7, and in Los Angeles on June 8, which will double as the single release party for “Aepex.” The band will release ltd. edition 7-inch lathe cut records to celebrate. Tickets here
Tour Dates
Sat, June 7 – San Francisco, CA @ Bottom of the Hill
Sun, June 8 – Los Angeles, CA @ Echoplex
Kaleen Kali is an indie band that sounds like goth Blondie and Ride had a lovechild. Hailing from her native Los Angeles, frontwoman and songwriter Taleen Kali composes romantic punk songs wrapped in layers of shoegaze, psychedelia, and grunge, creating a cosmic sound that’s dreamy & defiant alike. With fiery live sets and swirling sonics, Taleen and her band quickly became a fixture of the L.A. underground.
Taleen Kali’s first full-length “Flower Of Life” came out in 2023 on Dum Dum Records. It was produced by The Smashing Pumpkins’ Jeff Schroeder and Josiah Mazzaschi (Child Seat, Bizou, Light FM), and recorded at The Cave, home to albums by The Jesus and Mary Chain, IDLES, and members of Slowdive, The Smiths, Lush, The Kills, and Warpaint. The title track “Flower of Life” debuted as the LP’s 1st single on KEXP & “Crusher” premiered on KCRW with heavy airplay by Henry Rollins. After their sold-out album release show, Taleen Kali’s LP made Bandcamp Album of the Day, was interviewed by SPIN, and garnered a lot of radio love–Henry Rollins played them on KCRW almost every week since the record came out and they’ve been on heavy rotation at KEXP. The band played 2 full U.S. tours to support the album including festivals such as Freakout, Psyched Fest, Treefort, SXSW (official), and Dum Dum Fest.

POLICE STATE @ MOCA: Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova’s durational performance exhibit

In POLICE STATE, Nadya Tolokonnikova (b. 1989 Norilsk, Russia) explores the omnipresent mechanisms of control, surveillance, and the alienation of living under systems of power that seek to dominate the body, mind, and spirit. The work transforms WAREHOUSE into a visceral representation of a panopticon—a space where the watcher and the watched exist in a perpetual dance of oppression, resistance, and exposure.

This durational performance takes the form of a confined cell —a symbolic nucleus of human resilience to state power. Inside, Tolokonnikova performs a spectrum of soundscapes, from eerie, haunted lullabies to bursts of harsh noise. The cell becomes both a prison and a sanctuary, a space where despair meets defiance, and silence gives way to the radical act of creation. While POLICE STATE confronts the brutality of control, it also insists on the possibility of catharsis and connection. The cell becomes a paradox: a site of confinement and liberation, despair and creativity. Through this interplay, Tolokonnikova invites the audience to grapple with the mechanisms of oppression while seeking the sparks of hope that resist it.

Nadya Tolokonnikova is a conceptual performance artist, activist, and the creator of Pussy Riot, a global feminist art movement. In 2012, she received a two-year prison term following the anti-Putin performance Punk Prayer, which The Guardian later named among the best artworks of the 21st century. In 2023, Tolokonnikova’s installation, Putin’s Ashes, at Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, Los Angeles, propelled her into a new criminal case and put her on Russia’s most wanted criminal list. Her debut museum exhibition RAGE, (2024) was presented at OK Linz, Austria, and the eponymous performance at Neue Nationalgalerie, Germany. Tolokonnikova’s work is in the collections of The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; The Brooklyn Museum, New York; Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas; Museum of Art and Design, New York; and the American Folk Art Museum, New York, among others. With thanks to Galerie Nagel Draxler, Berlin and Honor Fraser Gallery, Los Angeles.

Dropkick Murphys Share New Single, Video & Tour Dates

Dropkick Murphys’ new album For The People shows courage and confidence, speaking up against the injustices happening in the United States, doing so with the strength and power that harkens back to Dropkick Murphys’ earliest punk rock roots. For The People is more than a title. It’s a heartfelt stance, a declaration of who this band is—and who they’ve always been.
For The People will be released digitally on July 4 via the band’s Dummy Luck Music / Play It Again Sam, with the LP and CD release featuring 5 bonus tracks out October 10. The poignant album cover was created by renowned social/political artist Shepard Fairey’s design firm Studio Number One, and the album was produced and mixed by longtime Dropkick Murphys collaborator Ted Hutt.
For The People rises to its moment: an expression of humanity at a time of relentless dehumanization, a promise of hope in an era
fueled by fear-mongering, a declaration of solidarity in an age of disunion, a defiant rebuttal to the charlatans and demagogues who seek to divide us for their own power and profit.
“Who’ll Stand With Us?,” the album’s first single, is a call for unity, a return to sanity, and a look at what – and who – is really dividing us. It gets straight to the point: When the billionaires and broligarchs get done neutering society, what’s left for the rest of us? The song aims to frame class warfare for what it is. And, like all Dropkick Murphys songs, it empowers listeners to take action.
The powerful video for “Who’ll Stand With Us?” was directed by Jon Vulpine and depicts the disturbing reality of people disappearing in the United States. MeidasTouch Network, the U.S.-based pro-democracy news podcast (and the #1 podcast in the U.S. and Canada), took note, will be posting the video, and has shown ongoing support for the band’s efforts to stand up against injustice.

Building on the band’s longtime relationship with the Boston Red Sox, on July 11, fans can enjoy a night of fun during Dropkick Murphys night at Fenway Park which will feature a limited edition Dropkick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” bobblehead for those who purchase tickets here: https://www.redsox.com/dropkick. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Dropkick Murphys’ official charity, The Claddagh Fund, which has raised over $20 million to support non-profit organizations that are focused on children, veterans and addiction recovery.
Later in the summer, iconic punk rock bands Dropkick Murphys and Bad Religion will continue to share their message of fighting for what’s right during the co-headlining U.S. Summer Of Discontent Tour from July 22 through August 17. Visit https://dropkickmurphys.com/tour/ for current Dropkick Murphys’ tour dates, including the Summer Of Discontent Tour, North American festivals (Punk In The Park Denver, Warped Tour Long Beach, Seisiún, CityFolk, Riot Fest and Furnace Fest), as well a fall European headlining tour.
Whether it’s politics, family, friends or simply “life,” Dropkick Murphys continue to write music that regular people can identify with. On For The People–the band’s 13th studio album–the stories run deep, the memories push hard, and the joy remains infectious. Across the album’s 12 songs, Dropkick Murphys—Ken Casey(vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, tin whistle, accordion, piano, vocals), Jeff DaRosa (guitars, banjo, mandolin, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, percussion, vocals), James Lynch (guitars, vocals), Kevin Rheault (bass) and Campbell Webster (bagpipes and Uilleann pipes)—imbue the same kind of joy one might celebrate with family and friends. And even when the moods are sad and pensive, it’s hard not to feel personally invested in the band’s emotional spectrum

Recent praise for Cult of Venus:
“Reminiscent of Caroline Polacheck with a touch of a club vibe”FLOOD Magazine

“She is a one woman powerhouse. She plays guitar, she sings, she plays the synth, it’s just really, really cool”Lisa Worden – 98.7 LA

“Inspired by Caroline Polocheck, Grimes, Gamified Glitchy goodness, wicked synths! Big fan!” Sian Eleri BBC Radio 1 Future Artists

“Hefty electro beats and really powerful lyrics”BBC 6Music

“Mixed by Geoff Swan (Grimes, Caroline Polachek, Charli xcx), “Mountains” opens with a solo horn line before gorgeously layered vocals mesh together to create something eerily similar to what one would expect from a collboration between CHVRCHES Lauren Mayberry and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.”The Line Of Best Fit

“Combining the desperation of prime PJ Harvey, the scorched-earth polemic of Savages and electronic flourishes reminiscent of ANOHNI “Time Capsule” seethes with urgency — a fitting and affecting commentary on violent times and rising against one’s apathy and desensitization.” Untitled Magazine

Meet our Dog Trainers
Meet the Retired Irish Greyhounds

will all be
at the new campus
11862 N. Tangerine Business Loop, Marana, AZ 85658

Saturday, June 7 @ 7:00am – 11:00 am

Yes, these times are earlier than we normally do our monthly pet food collection because we have so much going on:

7am – Al Gusto Coffee Company truck will be there all morning long. Aldo has also offered a free cup of his premium coffee for those bringing a pet food donation.

7am-9am – meet the dog trainers from Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center: ask questions, spend some time getting to know them.
Meet the retired racing greyhounds from Ireland. We have two dogs available for adoption and they will be there for the meeting and oogling.

Meet Tonic – A Gentle Soul Settling into Home Life
Tonic is a sweet, low-maintenance guy with great house manners. He’s quick to respond to gentle guidance, reliably uses the dog door, and hasn’t shown interest in getting into anything he shouldn’t.

New to home life, Tonic is adjusting beautifully. While household sounds like the cooler once surprised him, he’s becoming more comfortable each day. Tile floors are still a work in progress, but some well-placed rugs are helping him build confidence.

He thrives on a calm, predictable routine: a morning walk and breakfast, followed by a cozy nap until lunchtime. After lunch, he patrols the backyard for lizards, then settles in for another restful nap before dinner.

Tonic walks nicely on leash but may react to other dogs, so a watchful handler is helpful. He hasn’t quite figured out toys yet—but backyard lizard watching? That’s his favorite pastime.

If you’re looking for a gentle companion who’s learning to love the quiet comforts of home, Tonic might be the one.

Meet Queenie – A 72-Pound Retired Racer Ready to Steal Your Heart

Queenie is a sweet and gentle soul who’s traded in the racetrack for a life of leisure. She adores squeaky toys, short strolls, and car rides—and nothing makes her happier than resting her head on your lap.

This lovely girl is dog-door and crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and gets along well with other greyhounds. Her daily routine includes two tasty meals (kibble with canned food and a splash of fish oil), followed by some well-deserved Greenies treats. She’s at her liveliest around mealtime, then settles in for long, peaceful naps. At night, you’ll find her happily curled up in her favorite bed in the primary bedroom.
If you’re looking for a calm, devoted companion with a gentle spirit, Queenie could be just the one.
