A Glance Into a Teenage Mind with Insightful Lyrics and Intricate Melodies

Prolific young Singer/Songwriter/Producer Rob Eberle presents a new single “Half of You”, now available on Spotify and all the major music services.

Listen on Spotify here.

“Half of You” is a poignant song that delves into the complexities of a one-sided relationship. Through haunting melodies and soul-stirring lyrics, Eberle captures the emotional journey of unrequited love, and the toll it takes on the one who yearns for reciprocation. The song paints a vivid picture of the narrator’s internal struggles, as he grapples with the silence that echoes in the absence of mutual affection.

This track is perfect for playing during those sunny drives with the windows rolled down, particularly during the bridge section of the song. “Half of You” is also the kind of song you find yourself playing alone in your room at night right after experiencing a devastating breakup, yearning for the person you’ve lost. It creates a poignant atmosphere, immersing you in the raw emotions conveyed through its melancholic melody and introspective lyrics.

With each note, “half of you” invites listeners to empathize with the bittersweet emotions of longing heartache, and the enduring hope that love may one day find its way back. The lyrics and vocals make this song a compelling exploration of the universal theme of unrequited love.

Chris Gardner Releases 6 New Tracks and 7 New Videos

Plus Chris’s touching “Elle” Premieres on KGCS-TV Houston TX

Chris Gardner’s A Love Thing is a collection of six original songs, songs that relate to personal experiences over the course of just about everyone’s life. All of them originating from Chris’s personal experiences.

On the title track, track one “A Love Thing” Chris teams with vocalist Kelley Peters and shares the story of a person believing they were meant to go through life alone and then it happens, a love thing happens. An up tempo song that delivers pleasing vocal harmonies combined with excellent accompaniment by seasoned session musicians.

On track two “That’s Not Me” Chris presents this song in an up tempo format as well verbally emphasizing repeatedly throughout the song that’s not me. That’s Not Me includes the excellent electric guitar work of career performance and session musician Wayne Turner.

That’s Not me is a definite foot tapper. Track three “Elle” is a departure from the first two tracks as Chris slows the tempo down in order to share a somber topic that is deeply personal to both himself and his extended family, the loss of a very young grandchild.

The lyrics capture what all of us feel by the loss of a young loved one, a child that we were looking forward to being with, to witness growing up and celebrating many of their life’s occasions. However, they did not make it, they are gone way too young.

Chris penned “Elle” believing that others like himself feel these very emotions but yet many times the words are hard to find. You will find in “Elle” that Chris’s homage to his granddaughter reaches within all of us. In another of Chris’s songs “Lost Inside America” Chris sings about how easy it would be to just give up because the notion of a better future somehow got lost in America. A modern day train of thought that most of us wonder about but do not want to even verbalize the possibility. He writes, “You can close your eyes but it just won’t go away”.

The EP contains six originals and they may well represent Chris’s best work to date.

JEFF LAKE’S MIDNIGHT SUN: COUNTRY FRIED ROCK!

Singer/Songwriter Jeff Lake presents his debut album “MIDNIGHT SUN” – available now on Spotify and all the major music services. Jeff Lake combines elements of folk, bluegrass, and rock to form his own brand of Americana, or as he likes to call it – “COUNTRY FRIED ROCK”.

“Midnight Sun” was released to radio on January 2, 2024. It debuted on the AMA (Americana Music Association) chart at #136. Nearly two months later, it has inched its way up to #100. With 96 radio stations playing songs from the “Midnight Sun” album nationwide, the title-track and single is sitting at #120 on the Music Row chart.

“Midnight Sun” the album (and the song) are a smörgåsbord of string instruments intertwining traditional acoustic instruments – acoustic guitars, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, pedal-steel & upright bass – with electric guitar power chords & all the regular rock accouterments.

The song leads with a rhythmic, rap-styled vocal hook with a layered 80s rock-styled treatment, and is an homage to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” – “Hey, ho, got to go to the midnight sun where the hot springs blow!”

Lyrically, the song speaks to Lake’s own plight as well as the plight of artists everywhere –  feelings of detachment, displacement, depression & life in a rapidly changing world:

“Got a few bucks in my pocket
“And a ticket for the train.
“I sip my whiskey in solace
“And think about the good ol’ days.”

Another homage, this one to Jim Morrison, illustrates the point further in verse 2:

“All the streets – they are uneven.
“All the faces lookin’ strange.
“All the women here are wicked
“As I drift through outer space”

But, all is not doom and gloom says Lake: “There’s this magical place – the lands of my ancestors – where we can all go to dance and sing and live happily ever after!”

ABOUT JEFF LAKE:

A multi-genre singer/songwriter, Lake has written music for Universal Greece recording artist, Michalis, and the theme song for CBS’s Latin American Idol spinoff show, the “Nueva Estrella Awards”. He has performed and recorded alongside members of TSO (the Trans Siberian Orchestra), the Dennis DeYoung Band (Styx), as well as the Billy Joel Band.

Jeff Lake picked up his first guitar at 8 years old. By junior high school he put together his first band for the annual talent show. By 17, he played his first professional gig and has never looked back. Music aside, Jeff is a long suffering Mets & Jets fan, and a Civil War buff. He was a journalism/history major at Brooklyn College before quitting school to pursue music full-time.

Punk Mafia Presents: Radio Silence EP

Punk Mafia Presents: Radio Silence EP on Earth Program/Virgin Music – Available 03.01.24 Punk Mafia Presents: Radio Silence EP

Punk Mafia presents their Radio Silence EP, the first of a series, to Spotify and all the major services via Earth Program/Virgin Music. Sample the record here.

Inspired by Joy Division, The Ramones, Type O Negative, Ministry & The Deadboys, the recordings were produced by M.O.B. and R-Low, with all instruments/vocals + lyrics created by M.O.B. and mixed/mastered by R-Low.

M.O.B. & R-Low have produced over sixty hit songs with some of the biggest bands and rappers in the world, including artists such as Patrick Stump of Falloutboy, DJ Lethal of Limp Bizkit, Fever 333, 311, Onyx, DMC of Run-DMC and death pop kings ORGY, Chali2Na of Jurassic 5 and DJ Kilmore of Incubus among others.

This initial EP consists of four tracks; entitled “Anarchy”, “Psycho”, “Rebel” and “Rock N’ Roll Disco”, with a stated plan to release an EP every two months.

Focused on turning a negative into a positive, this ambitious project contains twenty six songs recorded over a short period of time by M.O.B. in his apartment located in the very same Franklin Village, Los Angeles building as the infamous “Hillside Strangler” once resided, with M.O.B. on Guitar, bass, synth, drums/programming vocals and lyrics.

His partner R-Low then flew in from Italy to track vocals, drums and some other overdubs and additional production on the vocals, and quickly flew back to Italy to mix and master the songs. A sign of the times, the two maestro’s have steadily built M.O.B. together remotely across the ocean from LA to Italy and back for ten years strong.

Recently, M.O.B. Left L.A. and is back in NY putting a band together to play the Punk Mafia songs live. “I was giving too much of myself to people who weren’t respecting my love, talent, or well-being. When I give my heart, I give it all and I do not tolerate bullshit or f-around. This is real life. Real music. Now isolated away from all the posers and hookers, I feel like I finally got to address my personal mental health struggles. Getting to self-produce the music was really important to me to find the sound that best describes who I am, how I feel and what has happened in my journey of truth in music. I was able to channel my traumas and heartbreak into powerful, artistic, meaningful songs that I truly feel will help others. I am not alone in my feelings. These songs address the current political crisis, Love, Hate, heartbreak and healing, and I think many people will relate.”

Kenny Loggins Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Footloose

Fans can cut loose to Loggins’ Oscar-nominated title track with the release of an all-new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of the 1984 smash film.

This week, music legend Kenny Loggins is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the movie Footloose, the smash 1984 movie that helped to cement the singer-songwriter’s reputation as “the Soundtrack King.” To mark this milestone, Paramount Home Entertainment has remastered the film and is releasing it for the first time as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in standard and steelbook packages.

Released on February 17, 1984, Footloose was directed by the legendary filmmaker Herbert Ross (The Turning Point, Steel Magnolias) and concerned a Chicago teenager who moves to a small town and attempts to overturn its ban on dancing. The movie was an immediate hit and soon became a phenomenon, turning Kevin Bacon into a star and dominating music charts with a multi-million-selling soundtrack album that included two songs performed by Loggins: “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man)” and, of course, the iconic title track. Both songs were written by Loggins and Dean Pitchford.

“Footloose” exploded on radio and MTV, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and in 2018 was placed in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry as being “culturally, historically or artistically significant.”

“Being a part of Footloose has been one of the biggest highlights of my life,” says Loggins. “Working with Dean Pitchford on both songs was definitely special for me. I can still remember singing some of the first lyrics to Dean in the laundry room of my house. Everything came together so organically. I’ve had a blast performing ‘Footloose’ for decades, and I still enjoy watching audiences jump out of their seats to dance every time they hear the first guitar riff.”

About Kenny Loggins

Kenny Loggins has sold more than 25 million albums and has won two Grammy Awards. In addition to his string of successful recordings, both solo and as a member of the famed duo Loggins & Messina, Loggins became the first major rock star to dedicate himself to recording music for children and families. His album Return to Pooh Corner remains the best-selling children’s album of the last 20 years. In 2016, he released his latest children’s project, the book Footloose (Moondance Press, an imprint of Quarto Publishing Group USA), inspired by his 1985 Oscar-nominated and Grammy Award-winning “Song of the Year.”

His song “Conviction of the Heart” was hailed as the “unofficial anthem of the environmental movement” by Al Gore, when Loggins performed it on Earth Day in 1995 at The National Mall in Washington, D.C.

In 2016, he received the ASCAP Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award at the annual Chapin Awards hosted by WhyHunger. Later that year, The Guild of Music Supervisors honored Loggins with the organization’s first-ever Icon Award for his outstanding achievements in film, television and soundtracks.

His generous support of countless local organizations has made a lasting impact on the causes that are close to his heart. Through his work with Toys for Tots in Santa Barbara, CA, Loggins helped launch Unity Shoppe in 1988. An expansion of the Council of Christmas Cheer, which previously only existed during the holiday season, Unity Shoppe extended the program year-round so individuals could volunteer their services to help low-income families, children, the elderly, sick and disabled in Santa Barbara County. Loggins regularly lends his support to youth-based programs like Make a Wish, Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation and Little Kids Rock.

Loggins was honored with a Humanitarian of the Year Award from Little Kids Rock for his extensive commitment to children’s causes in 2016. In 2018, he helped re-open the original Notes for Notes (N4N) Studios at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara and United Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara County, giving over 600 kids each year access to a world of musical expression.

Loggins released At The Movies on June 12, 2021 – a Record Store Day exclusive vinyl that included some of his career-spanning soundtrack hits for the first time ever on one album, including “I’m Alright” (Caddyshack), “Footloose” (Footloose), “Danger Zone” (Top Gun) and many more.

His hit song “Danger Zone” was featured once again in Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, which become the biggest release of 2022, earning over $1.5B globally and saw “Danger Zone” earning over 1M streams per day at its peak.

On June 14, 2022, Hachette Books published Still Alright, Loggins’ long-awaited memoir. In Still Alright, Loggins gives fans a candid and entertaining perspective on his life and career as one of the most noteworthy musicians of the 1970s and ’80s.

Throughout 2023, Loggins crisscrossed the U.S. on his sold-out “This Is It” tour celebrating his spectacularly successful six-decade career as a hit songwriter and performer. On Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, he staged the closing show of his final concert tour in grand style – in his hometown of Santa Barbara at the beloved Santa Barbara Bowl.

Fill Up My Tank: New Single from Mark Newman

Singer/songwriter Mark Newman has released his first single for the new year, entitled “Fill Up My Tank”, (written by Chris Armata) to Spotify and all the major music services.

The song is about a long road trip taken by bike (motorcycle). Mark was in the studio working on Chris Armata’s original version of the song, when Chris said, “You should cover this song. It’s more in your wheelhouse.” Acoustic guitar, Dobro and finger snaps by Chris Armata and Upright Bass played by Mike Hall.

Drivin’ down the long road
Destination up ahead
Look so far, the mountain’s high
Gonna smack me in the head
Been a trip up and down
Don’t know how it’s gonna end
My gauge is low, my tires worn
Will I make it to the end

I gotta fill up my tank
It’s almost empty
There’s no other way
I’m gonna make it up that hill

Engine’s warm, the tach is high
Thought it would be an easy trip
Look up there, see the sky
Got a clearing for a bit
There’s no choice, can’t break down
Gotta make it to the end
Come this far, I can’t quit
No excuses to defend

In the rear view mirror I can see
The road disappearing from sight
I’m so tired, I’ll keep on goin’
Even if I drive through the night.

Almost there, can smell it now
Been a long, long road
Can’t believe I made it this far
Man it’s been a long road

Mark Newman is a well traveled and in demand professional whose musical prowess has taken him around the world several times over; working alongside many soul, blues, and rock greats of our time including John Oates (Hall & Oates), Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds), Willy DeVille (Mink DeVille), Sam The Sham, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos) and Sam Moore (Sam & Dave),  as part of these bands Mark has shared the stage with stars such as Sting, Elvis Costello, Travis Tritt and Carla Thomas as well.
