The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) and the Town of Sahuarita partner to present the Art on the Lake Festival on January 13th at the Sahuarita Lake Park from 10 AM – 4 PM. The event will encompass the theme of REFLECTION, encouraging attendees to explore personal and creative reflection, conscientious art-making, and multi-cultural and generational community performances.

Art on the Lake Festival will feature a full lineup of performances at the Sahuarita Lake Amphitheater. A colorful and unique blend of music, dance and performance art will unfold throughout the day, including Mexican Folk Music, Irish Folk Dance, and a Japanese Drum Performance.

VESSEL POP-UP PERFORMANCE
Experience the poetic and colorful performance art of VESSEL at this year’s Art on the Lake festival. The Phoenix based theater company will be performing MYSTIC, an atmospheric work inspired by the four elements: fire, air, earth, and water and the four goddesses: Gaia, Iris, Hestia, and Vesta. Their immersive experiences captivate and inspire audiences of all ages. Get lost in the magic of VESSEL!

FLOATING ART INSTALLATION
Experience a one-of-a-kind mirror ball floating art installation at the Art on the Lake Festival. Floating reflective sphere inflatable art pieces will sit atop the Sahuarita Lake during the festival. Be sure to snap a picture at one of our photo ops located throughout the park! PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONSOn January 13, Sahuarita Lake Park will burst with color and creativity as four large-scale art installations are unveiled.

Nogales muralist Tony Plak will be unveiling his work on a new mural being installed on Sahuarita Lake Park’s restroom building.

Artist Isaac Caruso reveals a temporary mural wall installation entitled “Welcome to Figment Land”.
PEN MACIAS
Sahuarita-based artist Pen Macias brings a collaborative post-it mural experience to the Art on the Lake Festival, inviting attendees to place their post-it onto the piece.
TEAM STUDIO CREATE
Team Studio Create brings their “Reflections” photo booth pavilion to the festival, bringing a new photo experience to festival attendees.

SAHUARITA PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
The second annual “Reflections: A Community Photography Contest in Sahuarita, AZ” officially launches at the Art on the Lake Festival! Submissions will be open online January 10, 2024 – May 10, 2024. The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance and the Town of Sahuarita are partnering to encourage creativity and exploration through this new project collaboration. The theme of the 2024 photography exhibition will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Sahuarita. Learn more at the SAACA info booth and here.
COMMUNITY CHALK ART COMPETITION
Community members are encouraged to create their own chalk art inspired by the day’s festivities! Participants can sign up at the event to create their own signature mural onsite. Chalk and supplies will be provided onsite. Three community winners will be chosen at 3:30 PM in each of the following categories and recognized on social media and receive a $100 gift card.

Civic Orchestra of Tucson – Instrument Petting Zoo
The Civic Orchestra of Tucson introduced the Musical Instrument Petting Zoo to our community in 1995. The Petting Zoo gives people of all ages a chance to have an up-close look at various orchestral instruments and actually touch and play these instruments under the guidance of orchestra members. Parents have repeatedly expressed delight after seeing their children try out instruments in our petting zoo, and many have inquired into music lessons.
