Cave Creek Museum and Kiwanis Preschool Pioneers present “Rosie and the Rustlers”
Cave Creek, Arizona – On Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 10-11 AM, Cave Creek Museum (CCM) will present Preschool Pioneers. Participants will encounter Rosie and her crew and uncover her clever plan to lasso Greasy Ben’s gang.
The book, “Rosie and the Rustlers” by Roy Gerrard, features a female ranch boss, Rosie Jones, and her hardworking cowboys, who outsmart a gang of cattle rustlers led by Greasy Ben. A rip roaring, gentle tale, the book is filled with charming, detailed watercolor illustrations is a lighthearted take on the Old West. Accompanying adults will lead their “littles” on rope tying and branding activities in the museum bringing the story of Fancy Dan, Utah Jim and their friends, the Cherokees, to life. Gerrad’s rollicking Old West tale is told in whimsical verse and accompanied by his distinctive watercolor illustrations.
Kiwanis Preschool Pioneers is designed for children ages 3-5 however all ages are welcome! Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Age-appropriate books set the stage for movement and music, trying out a process, exploring museum artifacts or acting out parts of the story with props. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged; walk-ins are accepted first come, first serve as class size is limited. This free program is made possible by the financial support of the Kiwanis Club of Carefree. Adults must engage with their child as this is not a drop off program. Register at cavecreekmuseum.org.
The 55-year-old museum’s mission is to preserve the artifacts of the prehistory, history, culture and legacy of the Cave Creek Mining District and the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills area through education, research and interpretive exhibits.
