Celebrate the Creative Arts in Sahuarita

March 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am - March 13, 2022 @ 10:00 am MST

The two-day, outdoor market features 40+ vendors and unique live performances

Join the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance and the Town of Sahuarita in an opportunity to engage in art and culture while supporting local artists on March 12 & 13, 2022.

The Sahuarita Town Hall Municipal Complex will transform into a creative marketplace filled with artisan goods and live music. Spend the day strolling through the open-air shopping environment while taking in the sounds of live acoustic musicians and sampling delicious food from local food trucks. A variety of creative finds will be on hand, including handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, custom home décor items, yard art, local artisanal foods, and one-of-a-kind art pieces.

If all that shopping works up an appetite, grab something to-go from local food vendors, including free cotton candy provided by Bombshell Sweets for the first 50 attendees, classic American fare from Jackie’s Food Court, Greek festival food from Mobile Food Concepts, and delicious Venezuelan food from Ricuras de Venezuela.

Creative, engaging opportunities abound as both young and old alike are invited to experience performances by Red Herring Puppets and illusions performed by Stephen the Spectacular. While you’re there, be sure to visit the Comic Book Mobile for a little inspiration, dance with the Ballet Folklorico La Paloma, and witness the incredible feats of Flam Chen Circus Day.

The Sahuarita Creative Arts Market is the true essence of Creative Placemaking, cultivating the arts as an essential part of Sahuarita’s identity. The market brings the community together, stimulates the local economy, enhances surrounding non-arts businesses, and provides opportunities for local artists to promote their work.

The 2022 Market will provide a safe outdoor shopping experience that directly supports local artists when most have lost primary income sources and have been severely affected throughout the pandemic. SAACA is proud to offer multiple opportunities to support artists during these difficult times.

Sahuarita is situated in the historic Santa Cruz Valley, surrounded by early Spanish missions, frontier outposts, and historic mines. Located just 15 miles south of Tucson, Sahuarita is south of the Tohono O’odham Nation, towards the north end of Green Valley. The environment encompassing the town—called the “Gateway to Arizona”—creates the perfect setting for contemporary artists drawn from every corner of the state to highlight their talents.

We create dazzling public spectacle merging daredevil acrobatics, pyrotechnics and a mastery of light, air and fire. Our interest in community interaction, educational outreach and public ceremony has led Flam Chen to innovate work that imbues the exhilaration of a symphony, the timeless beauty of opera and the raw physicality of sport. Civic leaders, city centers and creative communities cry out for work that is inspiring, un-elitist, bonding and celebratory. Through procession, community skill-building workshops and novel use of public space, Flam Chen has developed a uniquely American style of Road Theater. This is performance unconfined by black boxes or velvet seats, this is what new audiences want-To be re-connected to the POWER and VELOCITY of the performing arts.
