CIVIC ORCHESTRA OF TUCSON PRESENTS FREE ALL-AMERICAN CONCERTS
THE 2ND SET OF CONCERTS IN OUR 2021-22 SEASON
Classical music is back! The Civic Orchestra of Tucson has returned with its series of FREE classical concerts. The December concerts, “Made in America II”, include pieces by Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, Ellsworth Milburn and audience favorite, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “from the New World”
Music Director, Charles Bontrager explained, “American music represents a vast treasury of gems from today and yesterday, but all too often symphony orchestras position themselves as museums of the past, with only meager offerings of artistic riches from the present. The Civic Orchestra is delighted to present
Made in America II, as we continue to pan the riches of the repertoire available to us. In this case, Bernstein and the Broadway stage, Milburn from the avant-garde of the 1980’s, and John Williams, the musical genius of the silver screen, coupled with Dvořák’s stunning romanticism from the late 19th century. What a musical collage it will be.”
Concerts will be held on:
Saturday, December 4 at 3:00 pm
Valley Presbyterian, 2800 S Camino del Sol, Green Valley, AZ
Sunday, December 5, at 3:00 pm
Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft Rd., Tucson, AZ
