INTRODUCING ELIO MEI

April 30 - June 9

Meet Elio Mei. Formerly known as Madilyn Mei, the innovative alternative pop singer-songwriter steps into a new chapter with a name change rooted in personal truth and creative growth, introducing it with the deeply personal new single, “Elio.”

Listen to “Elio” HERE.

Elio opened up with fans about the meaning behind the transition and what this means for the evolution of their music via social media HERE.

They add, “I don’t resonate with my birth name [Madilyn], it makes me feel dysphoric and so I’d like to change it. Madilyn got me to this point and with the growth of this community, Madilyn Mei seems to have taken on a life of its own, but it doesn’t feel true to me. It hasn’t for a long time. I wanted to start releasing my music under my new name, Elio Mei.”

The decision follows more than a year of living personally under the name Elio — a name that means “sun”.

The new single, “Elio,” serves as both introduction and declaration. Intimate and reflective, the track embodies the vulnerability and courage required to step fully into oneself. It is not a departure from the storytelling and emotional depth fans have come to love, but rather a continuation — clearer, brighter, and more personal than ever.

In celebration of this new chapter, Elio Mei has announced TOMATO! TOMATO! TOMATO! THE TOUR, which will kick off April 20th in New York while hitting major markets across the US and Europe (see dates below.) Special guest Madds Buckley will join as support for the US and Canadian dates. Tickets are on-sale HERE now.

Last year, performing under the name Madilyn Mei, Elio released the long-awaited album A Thousand Songs About It All: Act I via Mercury Records, marking a bold expansion of his creative universe. Across twelve tracks, the project fused intergalactic pop, vaudevillian whimsy, and raw emotional candor, exploring burnout, identity, mental health, and the pressures of life as a touring 22-year-old musician.

The album’s lead single, “What’s Going On?!,” gained significant traction, amassing over 4.5 million streams and 800K YouTube views. “At Least I’d Be A Cowboy!” surpassed 1.2 million streams, while “One Man Circus” approaches 1 million. Elio also performed “What’s Going On?!” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show Me Music” series.

Beyond streaming success, Elio (as Madilyn Mei) joined AJR’s summer amphitheater tour, directed and edited the official music video for “Velcro,” and headlined the 30-date One Man Circus tour across North America, with the majority of dates selling out.

More details about upcoming releases and projects will be announced soon.
