Saxophonist, composer and bandleader Joshua Redman is said to have a sophisticated devotion to jazz traditions albeit a driving and consistent urge to be adventurous. First emerging in the 1990’s, Redman is recognized as one of the most acclaimed and charismatic jazz artists on scene today. The son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff, after graduating from Harvard College summa cum laude he decided to defer accepted entrance to Yale Law School (for one year) to experience NYCity’s burgeoning jazz scene. That one year turned into an illustrious career, as the genre of Jazz won what the field of law lost.
Redman’s accolades include winning the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition, multiple top spots on the Billboard Jazz Chart, and 9 GRAMMY AWARD® nominations. Plus, he has performed, with an expansive list of music industry royalty, on several soundtracks, and as both a solo artist and as a band member. Redman’s twenty-year recording career has produced over 20 albums-the most recent being with the Joshua Redman Quartet (Joshua Redman, Brian Blade, Christian McBride, Brad Mehldau) entitled LongGone (2022).
