LEITH ROSS ANNOUNCES 2024 CANADIAN TOUR WITH BAHAMAS

April 19, 2024 @ 8:00 pm - April 27, 2024 @ 8:00 pm MST

Canadian folk singer/songwriter Leith Ross (They/Them Pronouns) reveals that they will support Bahamas next spring on select dates of their Canadian headline tour, including shows in Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and more. See the full list of tour dates below. Tickets go on sale via artist presale and Spotify presale today at 12pm local time and via public on-sale on Thursday, December 14th at 10am local time.

On Friday, Ross released the deluxe version of their debut album and includes three live versions of the beloved tracks “(You) On My Arm,” “Orlando,” and “To Learn,” as well as the previously released fan-favorite “Monogamy.” Alongside the additional tracks are three live performance videos of “(You) On My Arm,” “Orlando,” and “To Learn,” out now.

Leith says, “To Learn, More is a wrap up and a love letter to To Learn, featuring three live versions of the tunes on the record and a re-imagining of a song that needed a little bit more Leith in it. It’s been an honour to share this part of my life with you. After all, what a joy it is to learn more!”

In support of their debut album To Learn, Leith toured across North America, Europe, and the UK this year, playing sold-out shows and bringing their fusion of folk music with pop, rock, and alternative to fans around the globe. The FADER hailed them as “your new obsession,” while NME described them as, “Gen Z’s new favourite indie songwriter…a voice for their generation.” The Honey Pop declared To Learn was “a flawless debut album,” and Popdust said, “To Learn feels like a vulnerable confessional, with huge crescendos and soft words, it’s a work of art.”

Over the past year, Ross has had major breakout moments with their viral tracks “We’ll Never Have Sex” and “Orlando,” cementing themselves as an important artist to watch. Not to mention, in addition to their own headline tours, they have supported Lord Huron, Andy Shauf, and Helena Deland on various shows over the last year and made their debut at several music festivals, like All Things Go Music Festival. In addition, they were the recipient of the inaugural John Prine Songwriter Fellowship at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival—read more HERE.

Hailing from outside of Ottawa, Ontario, Leith Ross embraced music at a young age, channeling emotional confessions through softly strummed chords. Recorded live, they made their debut with the independent Motherwell EP in 2020. Beyond prominent editorial playlisting, it incited widespread critical applause across US and Canada. Leith maintained this momentum in 2021 with the I’d Have To Think About It. With a rising profile on TikTok and among tastemakers, Ross signed to Republic Records in 2022.

ABOUT LEITH ROSS
Going into lockdown, Leith Ross was just Leith Ross. A college grad back at home, passing the long quarantine days amusing themselves writing songs and posting them online for friends. But when they came out the other side, it was like emerging from a chrysalis: now they were Leith Ross, beloved singer and internet-famous creator with a whole new career that now needed to take root in the real world. Ross grew up in a small town near Ottawa, Canada.

Though they lived in a very conservative town, the Ross family’s homelife was idyllic, “blissful”even, Leith says, smiling as they recall the creative, musical home their parents created for them and their two siblings. Their parents weren’t musical – Leith’s mom is a pharmacist and their dad is a teacher – but music was always playing at home, typical childhood scenes always soundtracked by Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Disney compilations, and The Proclaimers.

While at college, Leith came out as gay, and then, a couple of years later, as trans. To Learn, as with much of their music, draws on many of the intense emotions, unbreakable connections, and strange new feelings that such a time prompts. “It’s about a period of time where everything changed for me: some really hard stuff happened. And I learned how to get through it, and how to figure out where I fit into the world as an adult.” Their songs are hugely personal and take them to vulnerable places, always rendered in folk-adjacent tones, sometimes with a pop beat or a rock riff, sometimes just their voice and their guitar dancing alone.

They may have planned the classic career trajectory – waiting tables, playing dives and sending out demos – but the world had other plans for Leith Ross. “I think it’s amazing that just forcing myself to be vulnerable about things that I feel can actually be materially helpful for other people,” they say, genuinely bamboozled by the whole thing. “That’s like, such a mind blowing thing, even though I know that’s true from being a consumer of music. It’s such a humbling experience to be on the other end of that interaction.” Now, they’re just being themselves, playing their songs and learning everything they can along the way.
