Mt. Joy released their powerful and emotionally expansive fourth album, Hope We Have Fun, out now via Futures x Bloom Field Records. Arriving at the peak of a remarkable grassroots rise, the album is a deeply personal reflection on resilience, love, and the messy beauty of life lived in motion.
Formed in Philadelphia in 2016, Mt. Joy, Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Jackie Miclau (keys), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), and Michael Byrnes (bass), has steadily built a devoted global following through word-of-mouth, gripping live performances, and songs that speak to shared human experience. Over the last few years, they’ve gone from self-releasing SoundCloud songs on to selling out Madison Square Garden, amassing nearly 2 billion streams, and selling more than 500,000 tickets across North America and Europe.
Hope We Have Fun captures that journey in full, 13 tracks that explore everything from road-worn intimacy to post-tour depression, spiritual longing, and the sacred act of making music with people you love. The record features fan favorite, “Highway Queen“ along with newer songs like ”God Loves Weirdos” which dives into the quieter moments between shows, the love that blooms during late-night gas station runs and long-haul van ride- while “More More More” faces down the haunting silence of post-tour depression, building to a breaking point before erupting in a powerful emotional release.
Emotional track “Lucy,” was inspired by a fan who reconnected with the band after their sold-out MSG show and shared her recent brain cancer diagnosis. The track became a tribute to her bravery and vulnerability, and Mt. Joy announced a philanthropic partnership with the American Brain Tumor Association, pledging a portion of proceeds from “Lucy” to fund research and advocacy efforts.
Two special collaborations mark high points of the record. On “In The Middle,” Mt. Joy teams up with rising alt-pop powerhouse Gigi Perez for a soul-searching, slow-burning duet that captures the ache of not knowing where you stand, with someone else, or with yourself.
Of the collaboration, Gigi Perez said, “it came together naturally. When we wrote the song, I didn’t connect that Matt was from Mt. Joy, which is one of my favorite bands. He also wasn’t aware of me as an artist and so there was this very easy connection that felt anonymous looking back. We just hung out and it happened in a room full of new friends. When he mentioned wanting to put the song out I was so excited. It’s another side of my sonic interests and it’s an honor to get to express it with Mt. Joy.”

On “Wild and Rotten” the band is joined by Nathaniel Rateliff, whose rich, world-weary vocals intertwine with Quinn’s in a gut-punch ballad about holding on to something fleeting and sacred.
Following festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and Newport Folk Festival, Mt. Joy will hit the road this fall for their massive ‘Hope We Have Fun’ North American Tour. The tour promises to bring the full emotional weight of the album to life, in a setting where Mt. Joy has always thrived: onstage, in front of their fans.
Hope We Have Fun is out now on all major streaming platforms. Mt. Joy’s Hope We Have Fun will see the band play arenas and festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Newport Folk Festival, and Red Rocks.

About Mt. Joy:
The Philadelphia based band—Matt Quinn [vocals, guitar], Sam Cooper [guitar], Sotiris Eliopoulos [drums], Jackie Miclau [keys, piano], and Michael Byrnes [bass]— take their name from the quiet and rural National Park in Southwest Pennsylvania, about four hours from their Philadelphia base. Forming in 2016, they made their mark two years later when their self-titled Mt. Joy (2018) debut album spun off platinum single “Silver Lining,” an uplifting power ballad that went to #1 at AAA radio (Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay) and has eclipsed over 240 million streams across platforms. Their second album, Rearrange Us (2020) drew widespread critical raves, with title track gaining 92 million Spotify streams since the release. Their third LP, Orange Blood (2022), came out of the pandemic and further cemented them with another #1, Lemon Tree, at AAA and a 70 date headline tour that sold over 180K tickets. Over the past five years, Mt. Joy has amassed over half a billion streams and earned acclaim from NPR, Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Line of Best Fit, and more. Throughout their career, the band has performed at a variety of festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo. Additionally, the band has performed on Stephen Colbert, CBS Morning, Samantha Bee, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, and Conan. Upcoming plans for 2024 include new music, live show, and world tour including shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and more.
