Whether you consider yourself a “beginning” birder or already have more than a thousand eBird checklists, we all have a fundamental reason to watch birds—for enjoyment! Join Luke Safford, director of engagement from Tucson Audubon Society, as he shares nine tips to deepen your enjoyment of birds and birding in Arizona. He will also discuss a few of the region’s best places to find birds during the winter.

Join award-winning Arizona travel writer and author Roger Naylor as he discusses his latest book Arizona National Parks and Monuments. The book highlights the diverse scenic wonders and cultural treasures of Arizona’s impressive national park units, the lessons they teach us, and the adventures they offer.

Naylor has been published in Arizona Republic, USA Today, The Guardian, Country Magazine, Arizona Highways, and elsewhere. He was inducted into the Arizona Tourism Hall of Fame in 2018. His book will be available for purchase.

Why do we visit our national parks? What’s there to see? And how does a visit to one of our parks, monuments, or historic sites change us?

Come and hear Jack Lasseter tell us about his adventures in our national park system and how they have affected him. You can learn about what’s available in Arizona’s 22 park units, what each has to offer, and why they are such great places to visit, not once, but over and over again. After hearing this, you will not want to stay home!

Celebrate the beauty, culture, and heritage of the Southwest as artists share their stories and art, featuring Tohono O’odham/ Pima-Maricopa watercolor artist Michael Chiago Sr (Saturday ONLY), Navajo painter David John, Santo Domingo Pueblo jewelers Rudy and Mary Coriz, and Hopi/Cherokee artist Gerald Dawavendewa.

A wide variety of paintings, jewelry, and artwork will be available for purchase.

Join biologist Theodore Fleming as he discusses his latest book Birds, Bats, and Blooms. A deeply thoughtful and researched dive, this book is an engaging trip across evolutionary trajectories as it discusses nectar-feeding birds and bats and their coevolution as pollinators with flowering plants.

Through engaging prose, Fleming pulls together the most recent research in evolutionary biology and pairs it with accounts of his personal interactions with bats and birds. The book will be available for purchase.
