SculptureTucson, the local non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing Arizona’s cultural landscape through public art projects, workshops, and the creation of a sculpture park in Tucson, announces the return of its Annual SculptureTucson Festival Show and Sale in 2022. In 2019 it featured over fifty sculptors and attracted approximately 6,000 attendees from a variety of local and out-of-state communities.
“We are thrilled to witness the growth and continued demand for our annual Festival Show and Sale,” says Jeff Timan of Sculpture Tucson. “Most importantly, this event gives our amazing local artists a platform to showcase their works and also allows our community to come and see what brilliant talent exists right in our own backyard — and we are proud to facilitate that.”
The festival kicks off with an exclusive Preview Party on Friday, March 18, with an opening night reception at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park from 5:00PM-8:00PM. The evening is a unique opportunity for collectors to meet the participating sculptors and get a first peek and pick of the festival’s unmatched selection of sculpture from Southern Arizona and beyond. The 2022 Preview Party includes live music, gourmet hors-d’oeuvres and drinks catered by Hacienda del Sol. Tickets are available on the website ($50) www.sculpturetucson.org
SculptureTucson Show and Sale runs on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the festival is free and open to the public. This year’s event features more than 50 sculptors, a diverse range of 3D artwork across media, artists’ availability, food trucks and more. In 2019 (the last show prior to covid), festival patrons purchased an estimated $150,000 in art, including everything from glass to ceramic to metal pieces. Sculptures range in size from tabletop to monumental, allowing collectors to purchase for their needs. As part of every festival, SculptureTucson offers a Purchase Award where the organization selects large-scale pieces to become public art in Tucson. This year it will also be piloting a new initiative for local businesses by selecting a pool of participating artists from the festival to feature their work in its Rental and Loan program.
