Sonoita AVA New Release Festival 2021

The 20th Annual celebration of the Sonoita AVA New Release Festival will take place on November 13th from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. The festival will also celebrate “Arizona Wine Industry Founders Day and pay tribute to Dr. Gordon Dutt for his dedication towards the Arizona wine industry and his countless contributions to the community” according to a State Proclamation by Governor Doug Ducey. No reservations required, lunch may be purchased on-site from Las Vigas and Live Music All Day. Tickets can be purchased in advance at sonoitavineyards.com. Blessing of the new vintages are at noon. Admission of $40 (online prepurchase) includes 12 wine tasting tickets with souvenir glass or $45 at the door, tasting of new and current releases from Sonoita Vineyards, AZ Hops and Vines, Wilhelm Family Vineyards, Lightning Ridge Cellars, The Village of Elgin Winery, The Elgin Distillery, Autumn Sage Vineyards, Strive Vineyards, Twisted Union Wine Company, and Vino Stache. Discussion with the winemakers present. We will have vendors on site for Holiday Shopping!

This is the third of three festivals at Sonoita Vineyards for 2021! In 2022, the 44th Annual Blessing of Sonoita Vineyards is Saturday, April 9, 2022, HarvestFest is on Saturday, July 30, 2022, and Sonoita New Release Festival on November 12, 2022. The Winery/Tasting Room is open daily from 10am-4pm except Closed Tuesdays and major holidays. Private tours, tastings, luncheons or special events in our Vintage Room may be arranged.

The oldest commercial vineyard and winery in Arizona, Sonoita Vineyards opened in 1983, and now includes over 30 acres of vines. Located 35-miles southeast of Tucson in Elgin, Sonoita Vineyards is situated on the south side of a hillside, surrounded by rolling grasslands. The Sonoita American Viticultural Area is a basin surrounded by three mountain ranges, the Huachuca Mountains, the Santa Rita Mountains, and the Whetstone Mountains. The vineyard plantings are 4,500 feet above sea level, some of the highest in North America. This hillside planting protects the vines from harsh winds and frost. The grape varietals grown at Sonoita Vineyards are Chardonnay, Mission, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Malbec.
