Speedy T-33 Jet Aircraft Flies at Planes of Fame

July 29, 2021 @ 12:00 am MST

Speedy T-33 Jet Aircraft Flies at Planes of Fame on August 7, 2021

Flying Demo Begins at 11:45am

If you feel the “need for speed” then put the Planes of Fame Air Museum on your calendar for Saturday, August 7, 2021.

Join us for a great outdoor Flying Demo when the Museum’s Lockheed T-33 “Shooting Star” takes to the skies.

Planes of Fame Air Museum’s T-33 is one of an elite group of these jet trainer aircraft that still fly.

This Flying Demo is a warm-up flight before the aircraft will head next month to Reno, Nevada for the annual National Championship Air Races where she serves as the “pace plane” for the Unlimited Class of racers.

Here’s your chance to see this aircraft up close, hear her powerful Allison J-33 jet engine with 5,400 pounds of thrust start up, and watch her put on an aerial display over the Museum.

Museum doors open at 10:00am. The “Shooting Star” will be on display for up-close viewing and photographs until 11:30am.

The Flying Demo: A short presentation will begin at 11:45am followed by jet engine start and taxi at noon. The “Shooting Star” will then fly directly over the Museum for twenty minutes and return to the Museum. A brief Question and Answer segment with our pilot will follow at 12:30pm.

The Lockheed T-33 was an aircraft developed in the late 1940’s to train pilots in the flight characteristics of jet aircraft. Based upon the Lockheed P-80 jet fighter, the aircraft provided seating for a student and instructor. Over 6,500 would be built and several generations of military jet fighter pilots honed their jet combat skills in the T-33.
Special discounted admission is still in effect. We look forward to having you join us on Saturday, August 7, 2021 as history flies before your eyes!
