The Arts Foundation is looking for Artists and community members in Ajo

January 11, 2023 - January 31, 2023

The Arts Foundation is looking for Artists and community members in Ajo for paid participation in SaludArte Program

The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona in collaboration with the Pima County Health Department, is launching SaludArte, an arts and health grant program within the areas of each of Pima County’s five Supervisory Districts that were most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The following zip codes and neighborhoods SaludArte will focus on are:

District 1: 85741
District 2: 85713 (Las Vistas, Western Hills & South Park)
District 3: 87321 (Ajo)
District 4: 85710 & 85614 (Green Valley)
District 5: 85746 (Midvale Park)

The Arts Foundation is looking for interested participants living within each zip code to participate in a series of community meetings. Participants will be paid $100 per meeting for their time.

The goals of SaludArte are to create avenues where community engagement and public art can intersect to amplify the voices and experiences of our community while also helping to increase health equity, access, literacy and COVID-19 mitigation across Pima County. This initiative will produce storytelling timeline on the project website as well as five temporary art projects in each district in Pima County.

In the Fall of 2023, SaludArte will culminate with a community-wide event to celebrate the stories of the participants, exhibit the artwork created through the voices of the participants and serve as an opportunity to promote health equity and access to the COVID-19 vaccine and other health services, like health screenings, COVID-19 testing kits, chronic disease management resources, etc..

Additionally, the Arts Foundation launched a Request for Qualifications for Artists and Artist Teams apply for a $30,000 grant to produce a temporary public art installation based off of the information gathered from SaludArte participants in the Ajo area. Click here to learn more and apply.
