Tucson Comic-Con 2024: A 15th Anniversary Extravaganza of Pop Culture, Community, and Creativity

Tucson Comic-Con is just one week away, and the excitement is building for what promises to be the biggest and most exciting event in its 15-year history. Taking place over Labor Day Weekend from August 30 to September 1, 2024, at the Tucson Convention Center, this year’s event is packed with a star-studded lineup of guests, a variety of immersive activities, and a series of exciting after parties that will keep the celebration going long after the convention doors close.

A Star-Studded Lineup of Celebrity Guests

Tucson Comic-Con 2024 will be headlined by some of the most iconic figures in the entertainment industry. We are honored to welcome Roy Thomas, legendary Marvel writer and editor, known for co-creating characters such as Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Vision, and Ultron. Doug Jones, acclaimed actor celebrated for his roles in Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Star Trek: Discovery, and Hocus Pocus, will also be in attendance. Fans will also have the opportunity to meet John Ratzenberger, beloved for his role as Cliff Clavin on Cheers and his distinctive voice in every Pixar film from Toy Story to Coco. Additionally, Dee Wallace, star of E.T., Cujo, and The Howling, and Jimmy Hart, WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend, will be joining this spectacular lineup.

New and Exciting Activities for All Ages

Tucson Comic-Con is dedicated to offering something for everyone, from hands-on creative workshops to family-friendly spaces. This year’s new offerings include Gil’s Paint & Snack Party, where attendees can enjoy a relaxed and social atmosphere while painting a 16×20 design of their choice. For fans of miniatures, Paint and Take Sessions provide the perfect opportunity to paint your own miniature with all supplies provided. The Ready, Set, Rec! program, hosted by the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation, will offer a special playroom for kids, ensuring fun for the entire family.

Community-Focused Initiatives and Inclusive Spaces

Tucson Comic-Con is more than just an event—it’s a community celebration. This year’s Silent Auction will benefit two important local charities: Youth on Their Own and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. We are also proud to continue our Little Heroes Program, providing a unique experience for children with disabilities. The Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation will host an Inclusive Quiet Zone, offering a safe and welcoming space for attendees to relax, recharge, and enjoy low-stimulation activities.

After Parties: Keep the Celebration Going!

The fun doesn’t stop when the convention closes! Tucson Comic-Con 2024 is hosting a series of after parties that celebrate the vibrant Tucson community. On Friday, August 30th, Club Congress will host the “m00m presents ‘Goldstar’ Tucson Comic-Con After Party,” featuring a DJ set by RHYME, from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM. On Saturday, August 31st, head to the Rialto Theatre for “Día de las Luchas,” an electrifying night of wrestling entertainment by the Rockstar Wrestling Alliance, complete with a costume contest. Also on Saturday, &Gallery will welcome Sofubi toy collectors for an opening reception from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with an exhibition running through September. Later that evening, Bumsteds will host another after party offering costume contests and karaoke.

Interactive Experiences and Contests

Tucson Comic-Con is known for its interactive and immersive experiences. Join the Epic Scavenger Hunt, meet fan groups with movie-accurate replica droids, and participate in the Youth and Adult Costume Contests for a chance to win fantastic prizes. Attendees can also get inked by talented tattoo artists from Spark Collective, or dive into live RPG sessions, classic arcade games, and board games throughout the weekend.

Convention Hours and Final Details

The convention kicks off on Friday, August 30, with the Exhibit Hall opening our doors at 2:00 PM. Programming, including celebrity panels, workshops, and gaming sessions, will continue throughout the weekend. The hours of the convention are:

Saturday, August 31st: 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
Sunday, September 1st: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
