Please join us Friday, September 30 at 7:00 PM for a showing of Michael Keene’s documentary Abandoned: The Untold Story of the Orphan Trains.
Michael Keene is the author of several history books, historical videos, audio books, and a podcast. Originally from upstate New York and employed for twenty-five years as a financial advisor, Michael has combined his interests in writing and film making to explore unusual but true stories of history. What began as a hobby fifteen years ago has now grown to a wonderful obsession!
Michael’s documentary will be followed by a recap by Oracle Historical Society staff of the arrival of an orphan train in Clifton-Morenci in 1904. A group of over two dozen Irish-Catholic orphans arrived in Clifton-Morenci and triggered angry mobs and violence, and caused a priest to flee the towns in fear for his life.
