The 44th Annual BLESSING OF THE VINES will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 10AM-5PM at Sonoita Vineyards, 290 Elgin Canelo Road, in Elgin, Arizona in Sonoita Wine Country. The daylong event includes the Blessing of the Vines Procession at noon with Father Greg Adolf from Saint Andrews and his clergy guests to celebrate the beginning of spring and growing season.
44th Annual Blessing of the Vines is $25.00 pre-sale admission online, $30 at the door and includes 10 wine tastings from local participating wineries with souvenir glass. Lunch may be purchased on-site from Las Vigas, Curbside Kitchen, and Sparky’s Cantina. Live Music all day provided by Neamen Lyles, Corey Spector and Split Decision. Guests may purchase lunch from Happy Cookers Catering or Las Vigas, and coffee from Sonoita Coffee Roasters. Participating wineries with Sonoita Vineyards: Elgin Winery and Distillery, Lightning Ridge Cellars, Hannah’s Hill Vineyards, Wilhelm Family Vineyards, The Meading Room, Golden Rule Vineyards and 1764 Vineyards.
This is the first of three festivals at Sonoita Vineyards for 2021 – HarvestFest is scheduled July 30, 2022, and the 22nd Annual Sonoita AVA New Release Festival is Saturday, November 12, 2022. Sonoita Vineyards is also available for daily tastings, private tours, luncheons, weddings and other special events, company getaways and retreats.
The oldest commercial vineyard and winery in Arizona, Sonoita Vineyards opened in 1983, and now includes over 30 acres of vines. Located 35-miles southeast of Tucson in Elgin, Sonoita Vineyards is a 25-acre vineyard situated on the south side of a hillside, surrounded by rolling grasslands. The Sonoita American Viticultural Area is a basin surrounded by three mountain ranges, the Huachuca Mountains, theSanta Rita Mountains, and the Whetstone Mountains. The vineyard plantings are 4,500 feet above sea level, some of the highest in North America. This hillside planting protects the vines from harsh winds and frost. The grape varietals grown at Sonoita Vineyards are Chardonnay, Mission, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Malbec.
