ZAYN RELEASES NEW ALBUMROOM UNDER THE STAIRS

Multi Platinum-selling recording artist, songwriter, producer, and philanthropist ZAYN has released his highly anticipated 4th studio album, ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS, via Mercury Records.

For the past six years, ZAYN has been writing and crafting ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS at his home studio in rural PA. This album marks his most personal release to date, reflecting where he is in life, while exploring the complexities of healing, stillness, and growth. It also sees the genre-bending artist explore a new sound, leaning into his soulful vocals, live instrumentation, and poetic lyricism as a songwriter.

The release is accompanied by the official music video for “Stardust,” directed by Frank and Ivanna Borin – WATCH HERE. The visual brings the lyrics to life as we follow ZAYN on an exploration of memory and mystery guided by falling stars. Through the metaphor of a celestial being stranded on Earth, ZAYN’s journey reflects themes of identity, vulnerability, and the quest for home, ultimately ascending to join the stars.

ZAYN will make his first ever live solo performance tonight at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Tickets sold out immediately upon release. ZAYN will perform a selection of songs from ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS, with his performance following the world premiere of the Road Back To The Mic documentary.

Additionally, ZAYN will debut his first TV performance in 8 years on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 21. He recently sat down with The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat about the new record and starred on the cover of NYLON Magazine.

Reflecting upon ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS, ZAYN says “This is my favorite album that I’ve made to date, mainly because it comes from a place of sheer honesty and vulnerability. I wanted each song to feel as if it was just me sitting beside you telling you how I feel, singing directly to you. It’s raw and stripped back and the type of music I always hoped to make.”

He continues, “Working with Dave Cobb has been an amazing experience. The way he’s elevated the music is second to none, and he has done an incredible job helping me create this record. I hope we can take listeners on some whimsical, magical journey, and that they enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.”

“I think just being where I was at that time, staying away from things and living with my own thoughts inspired me to want to write something from that place. I’ve got to put this out as a whole body of work, it’s something for myself, not even just for the world,” says ZAYN.

ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS was co-produced by ZAYN with 9x GRAMMY Award winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile). Cobb came on board after hearing the songs ZAYN had crafted, marveled by how raw and honest it was. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Cobb said “What got me about Zayn was his voice, you can hear love, loss, pain, triumph and humanity in it. Zayn has really created his own universe on this record, he really has no fear and is speaking straight from his soul.”

The album is available now on several physical formats, including four vinyl variants: a signed ‘Studio Edition’ with exclusive cover art, a first edition vinyl with a commemorative sticker, a blue limited-edition vinyl exclusive to Target, and a limited-edition color vinyl for Urban Outfitters. Additionally, it’s available on cassette and two exclusive CDs—one for Walmart and another for independent retailers.

Singer/Songwriter Ben Sefton Tackles Insecurities with Unflinching Candor and Biting Wit on “Dark Dreams”

There are things that happen in dreams, of course, that none of us would ever feel comfortable sharing in public. Singer/songwriter Ben Sefton doesn’t exactly spill all the details in his latest single “Dark Dreams,” but he bravely stares-down his insecurities and emerges with a mesmerizing new slice of lounge-folk/dark pop genius.

Ben explains, “This is a song I started writing after a bad dream, where all of my deepest insecurities were exposed, my hopes at romance had utterly failed and my perverted longings for certain acquaintances were bizarrely explored (as in every dream I’ve ever had, I guess).”

While “Dark Dreams” will leave you unsettled (and chuckling) in equal measure, it is perhaps the perfect balance of discomfort and humor to inspire us to take a look at all the foibles we keep hidden from ourselves. It is also an exquisite piece of songcraft with shades of lounge music, vocal jazz and bossa nova — the latest example from a singer/songwriter whose versatility is outpaced only by his smoothness.

About Ben Sefton:

After graduating from Selkirk College’s Contemporary Music & Technology Program in 2015, Ben has spent his time crafting and fine tuning his songs. Ben’s budding love of songwriting as a teen quickly developed into an obsession, fueling the creation of 100’s of unreleased songs. Driven by his deep love of earworm pop melodies stemming from such influences as The Beach Boys, Frank Ocean and Andy Shauf as well as a passion for candid lyrical witticism and word play, Ben has effectively created a style all of his own.

In March, 2020, Ben released his debut single ‘Humans’ to great reception with the press including CBC Saskatchewan, CBC Winnipeg and numerous music websites in North America, UK, and Europe. The single was included on many pop music playlists including Universal Music owned playlists on Spotify. The video for Humans (created by the artist who did Grimes’ digital Rolling Stones cover) received close to 100,000 views and 100% thumbs up. In addition, Ben was pleased to receive, in 2020, a SK Arts Independent Artist’s recording grant.

Ben’s musical journey has benefitted from the personal instruction and advice of a few key professors and mentors at Selkirk College, a school which boasts such high-profile alumni as Kiesza and Meghan Trainor. Majoring in composition and prompted by his growing curiosity into the inner workings of harmony and song writing, Ben’s musical palate has steadily expanded.

With the help of vocal coach Laura Landsberg and backed by hours of focused guitar practice, Ben matches his ceaseless song creation with considerable vocal and instrumental prowess. Drawing on influences of virtuoso guitarists from John Mayer to Django Reinhardt and the rich vocals of Frank Sinatra and Dallas Green, Ben takes joy in constantly refining his skills and looks forward to sharing his vast catalog of songs.

The Earthly Frames Sing the Body Robotic with New Single Cicatrise Dud

Musical mad scientist Gabriel Walsh is back with “Cicatrise Dud,” the latest offering from his ever-shapeshifting project The Earthly Frames and the first single from the new full-length Infranyms, out June 3rd.

With “Cicatrise Dud,” Walsh delves into robotics and the human-technology interface while giving us a taste of his new direction: a retro-futuristic barrage of rock and pop, Infranyms sees Walsh finding the ecstatic sweet spot between new wave and no wave while balancing synthetic sounds with careful, introspective songwriting.

One of most captivating experimentalists on the contemporary indie landscape, Walsh has switched genres over the course of the last six Earthly Frames albums, from electronic to classical to what Walsh himself describes as “deeply weird rock.” And, as his body of work expands, Walsh increasingly resembles a kind of missing link between classic American eccentrics like R. Stevie Moore and modern YouTube outsider artists like Louis Cole.

Infranyms is the seventh album in Walsh’s series The Rainbow Table — a decade-plus endeavor to create an LP for each color of the classic ROYGBIV mnemonic. Infranyms occupies the much-debated indigo spectrum of The Rainbow Table. Many speculate Sir Isaac Newton only added this half-way color to align with a grander pattern he saw in observation and the occult. Infranyms celebrates this gloriously unverifiable assertion in measure and mystery.

The Earthly Frames is the current musical incarnation of Gabriel Walsh. (Walsh derived the name from the almost-disturbingly trippy children’s puppet program Magic Star Traveler.) For twenty-five years Walsh has been producing experimental pop recordings. He’s played in bands such as sad-songers Timesbold, freaky-improvers Wooden Wand & the Vanishing Voice, and Hebrew space-rockers The Solillians.

With The Earthly Frames, we can hear the through-line of layered, warped sounds that Walsh has been honing for a quarter century join up with a fixation on disjointed, fictional worlds. For example, the first Earthly Frames release was a USB drive with a one-of-a-kind narrative fragment. Owners of the devices had to choose whether or not to share their particular artifact with the others to complete the story or keep it to themselves – flipping the notion of music file sharing on its head. The following release came with a card game and short film all set in the world of a billboard salesman who’s having a nervous breakdown.

“…the perfect combination of sophisticated lyrics and ragged, heartfelt vocals — which are both entirely unique in the current music climate.” — Big Takeover

“Heady science-fiction metaphysics mix with earthy Americana… [the] untethered embrace of bold sounds and themes sets the project apart from artists who simply forge a signature and tinker with it. Walsh’s work relishes in the profound and the challenging.” — Tinnitist

“…melancholy but neon. Cuddly bitterness and sublime despair.” — NoHo Arts District

ALY G’s follow-up single “Super Power” just dropped, and she is currently working on collabs with Grammy-Nominated Producer BABY PAUL (Nas, J Dilla, Monie Love, Kanye West) & JON BLOK.

Robert Cristian Jordan’sCinematic Musical Stage Presence Entertains WhileHis Tenor Captivates

Working with veteran radio promoter, syndicated radio and TV show host Jory “Skip” Reeves Robert Cristian Jordan’s newest release is surpassing the chart positions of top international recording stars.

Mr. Reeves shares, “Robert Cristian Jordan and I met at Springboard Houston this past June. I told him he really had something going on with his music. It has different elements compared with what many artists are releasing. I encouraged him to use the Sparkx Media Network to get his music out to a global audience. Sparkx Media reaches over 200 countries of listeners and viewers.

To date Robert Cristian Jordan’s new release “Firestarter” is making some serious noise, “Firestarter” reached #1 on Spotify’s curator list and #1 on the DJ Pool Charts surpassing such major artists as Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Timberlake. Not bad for an unknown independent artist.”

Sparkx CEO Marcus Dupree adds, “My heartfelt congratulations on the tremendous success of RJC’s song “Firestarter” on the KSPX Sparkx Radio Network. It is truly remarkable to see how well the song is performing on Spotify, having been added to over 15 playlists and reviewed 21 times. Moreover, achieving the #1 spot on overall curators’ playlists is a significant accomplishment that speaks volumes about the quality and international appeal of Robert’s music. To learn more – Robert Cristian Jordan (therealrcjordan.com)

Robert Cristian Jordan’s mother enjoyed stage productions, musicals, and at a very young age Robert began to attend the events with her. Soon it became rather obvious that Robert had developed a fascination with the orchestra’s contributions. It was notable that he not only possessed a passion for music but an outstanding ability to tell stories. Additionally, Robert developed a penchant for works by such musical stage greats as Elton John and Michael Jackson. He would also experience the incredible on stage energy of Freddie Mercury.

As time moved forward these three creative stage performers would inspire that special touch of class that Robert Cristian Jordan audiences experience today. His youthful traits would be cultivated and today Robert’s stage presence is remarkable. His combination eye catching sets and costumes combined with his refined golden tenor voice hold the audience’s attention from start to finish.

Beyond his own creations and knowing the sea of talent that exists yet with so many artists and projects being underfunded Robert formed a 501c3 known as Phoenix Rising Foundation. The foundation is set up for scholarships for these artists and their projects. In closing: Robert Cristian Jordan has entered the scene and already his stage presence and music are attracting audiences. His success on Spotify serves as a testament regarding ability and appeal that places an indelible mark on audiences on the radio as well as on stage. It is this writer’s opinion that if RCJ continues to expand his combined theatrical and musical universe that his future is both bright and prosperous. This one to watch.

Brooke Moriber is a singer/songwriter and native New Yorker who has paved an unconventional path for herself in Country music. After getting her start at a young age professionally performing on Broadway, Brooke turned to songwriting as a teenager to cope with losing her eyesight to a rare eye disease. When the disease went into remission after a difficult four years, Brooke began traveling to Nashville to tell her own stories. Praised for her “clarion voice” (Associated press), she went on to release her first single “Cry Like A Girl” independently in 2019 and later signed with Nashville’s Reviver Records.

Brooke’s music has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday Country (Little Bit of YouHalf A HeartDown to Nothing) and Country Christmas playlists (All I Want for Christmas is You), Sirius XM’s Velvet, CMT online, Music Choice Network and the Music Row Country Breakout radio chart. Hailed as a “stellar songwriter and a powerhouse vocalist” (Country Swag) and a “force to be reckoned with in Country music” (Celeb Secrets Country), Brooke recently released a self-titled album and launched “Nashville in New York”, a series of Nashville style songwriters’ rounds sponsored by Music Choice Network bringing some of country music’s top talents to the iconic Bitter End in her hometown New York City.
