“I wish I had a nickel for every time I was in a club and heard someone in the crowd yell out ” Free Bird” to the band. Forty-nine years later and this southern rock anthem lives on. “I’m sorry to hear of Gary Rossington’s passing. His guitar work on “Simple Man” and “Free Bird” will transcend time. His tones paved the path for generations of guitarists. My condolences to his family.” – Levi Riggs

STREET SURVIVORS: THE TRUE STORY OF THE LYNYRD SKYNYRD PLANE CRASH, recreates the story of the ill-fated flight through the eyes of former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Artimus Pyle(who narrates the film), who not only survived the plane crash that claimed the life of the band’s founder and frontman Ronnie Van Zant amongst others, but who also physically pulled the remaining survivors out of the plane wreckage before staggering towards the nearest farmhouse in rural Louisiana to seek help.
“This film’s story, MY story, is not just about the plane crash but also about my personal relationship with the genius that was Ronnie Van Zant, whom I loved like a brother and still miss to this day,” says Artimus Pyle.
Pyle also contributes original music to the film’s soundtrack.
About Artimus Pyle:
Long considered the “wild man” of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle’s powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound. Artimus got his first real break at the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam. His first recording lists – Artimus Pyle, percussion. Then with other work for the Marshall Tucker Band, Artimus became known as a powerful session drummer.Using his connections with Charlie Daniels and Marshall Tucker, both acts that toured often with Skynyrd, Artimus met with Ronnie Van Zant and Ed King at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. The results of that meeting – Saturday Night Special – greatly impressed Ronnie. Artimus’ live debut with the band took place in Jacksonville’s Sgt Pepper’s Club in October 1974. When Bob Burns left the band permanently following Skynyrd’s first European tour in December 1974, Artimus quickly got the nod as Skynyrd’s new drummer.
The years Artimus played with Skynyrd were the years that solidified the legend behind the band. Quickly developing into one of the nation’s top touring draws with a grueling schedule of 300 shows a year, the constant work and touring paid off. By October 1977, Skynyrd’s songs had become radio staples.

Zachary Levi is suiting up again in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” this time taking on a trio of villains played by Dame Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler.
“Extra’s” Terri Seymour spoke with Levi about going head-to-head with Mirren and an injury she suffered during filming.
Of their fight sequence, Zachary noted that it “doesn’t really get cooler than that,” adding, “We beat the crap out of each other and she was so about it.”
That massive brawl lead to Helen injuring her pinky — but nobody knew about it until recently!
Zachary commented, “I found out with the rest of the world when she was on ‘Graham Norton,’ so I had no idea this was even happening. But she’s such a trouper. She just kept pushing right through it.”
Zachary praised Helen, saying, “She’s everything you want her to be, she’s everything you think, everything you think she could be and what you, you hope that she’s gonna be. And then some, really… She’s a dame, but doesn’t throw that around, she’s just super chill and cool and grounded and humble and collaborative and brings such a grace and a calming presence wherever she goes… You just feel like you’re in really safe, good hands with her.”
As for returning to the “Shazam” world as Shazam aka Billy Batson, Levi commented, “It’s so great. I was so grateful and so blessed that I got the job to begin with in the first one. We had so much fun making the first one and are so grateful for everyone who went out and saw the movie both in the theaters and then later, and supported us and have continued to support me… The fact that we got a sequel is just such a huge win, and I’m really grateful that we get to run this back, that I get to play this character more because it’s so fun.”
In the new movie, Levi’s Shazam is feeling like a fraud, which he said was fun for him to play. He said, “It doesn’t take much to tap into one’s own imposter syndrome… As an actor, I don’t know, you’re always kind of wondering, ‘Is this good, Am I not? Do people enjoy this?’ I go and try and find that and recognize that Billy, like everybody else, is trying to find his place in the world and wants to be the best brother and the best son and the best leader and all these things that he can be… It’s fun being able to kind of tap into more human moments like that.”
If there is a third “Shazam!” movie, where would he like it to go?
Zachary answered, “I would like to see the Shazamily taking on the undead, like hordes of the undead that are just coming at them. I think that would be fun.”He went on, “With these movies, you gotta have a villain… It’s tough,, though because you don’t want to make it, you know, regular human beings, you don’t wanna be going and killing a bunch of human beings, or whatever. Like, who can you lay waste to that as the audience, you’re not totally, like, you know, alienating everybody? And that’s why oftentimes you have aliens or you have robots or you have things like that, but I’ve never seen the undead. I really want to see that.”
As for who could play the next baddie, Levi suggested a British actor. He pointed out, “The Brits always play good foils. You know, it’s ‘Star Wars,’ you guys are always the bad guys, so I don’t know. I haven’t really got so far as to who that character who would play that character would be but I think in a general premise, I think zombies would be a lot of fun to kill.”
Levi isn’t sure when a third movie could come out, noting, “We gotta go tell people to watch this one.” He added that it’s up to the bosses to determine the future of the franchise.
Could Shazam appear in any other upcoming movies? Zachary played coy, saying, “I don’t know. Way above my pay grade.”
Regardless of who he is killing, Zachary has to be in Shazam shape. Of his workout routine for the second movie, he dished, “I mean, the first time was a little more intense because I had to put on weight that I had never really had before. I was always about 200 lbs. most of my life… and I put on about 20 more lbs. for the first film. Then I just tried to maintain that as best I could, but that still requires, you know, 45 days in the gym and 4,000, 5,000 calories a day, which is really the worst part of the whole deal.”Along with working out, Levi ate “boring calories,” like chicken and broccoli.
Zachary loves to challenge himself, so what was the most challenging part of the movie? He answered, “The most challenging part of this movie was the harness work. Every time you’re flying, you have to wear these incredibly tight harnesses that might as well just be diapers that are torture diapers, basically. That’s what they are and, so, those suck and they hurt a lot and they chafe and they bruise and they cut and they do all these things.”
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is in theaters March 17.

The All-New Single is Available Now through BMG

Legendary singer-songwriter and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Fogerty, best known as the founder and primary songwriter of his band Creedence Clearwater Revival and for his robust solo career, has released an all-new live version of his song “Joy of My Life” through BMG.
Written for his wife Julie, the track was originally featured on Fogerty’s Grammy Award-winning album Blue Moon Swamp (1997). This new live arrangement features his sons Shane and Tyler as well as Rob Stone on saxophone. and arrives just in time for Valentine’s Day.
“’Joy of My Life’ is the first love song that I wrote and is a love letter to my wife Julie. It’s about that emotion when you meet someone and fall in love, and how joyful and special that is” said Fogerty. “It’s one of my favorite songs that I’ve written, and I am so thrilled to know what my song has meant to so many.”

Country star Chris Stapleton recorded a version of “Joy of My Life” and originally featured it on his most recent album, Starting Over. It was later released as a single in 2022 and subsequently reached #27 on Billboard’s US Hot Country Songs chart. This past weekend, Fogerty and Stapleton met for the first time in Arizona ahead of Stapleton’s performance of the Star Spangled Banner at Super Bowl LVII.
Earlier this year, Fogerty made a bold and unique move when he acquired a majority interest of the worldwide publishing rights to his historic song catalog from Concord.
For Fogerty, the composer of iconic songs that have inspired generations – “Proud Mary,” “Down on the Corner,” “Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” among many others – the chance to own his compositions has been both a decades-long dream and a personal mission. For years, the copyrights to Fogerty’s classic songs were the property of Saul Zaentz, the owner of Fantasy Records, who sold the label and its publishing portfolio to the former Concord Music Group in 1995. Fogerty, who extricated himself from Fantasy in 1974, re-signed with the label upon its purchase by Concord. Even so, he was not able to gain ownership of his songs – until now.
“As of this January, I own my own songs again. This is something I thought would never be a possibility. After 50 years, I am finally reunited with my songs. I also have a say in where and how my songs are used. Up until this year, that is something I have never been able to do. I am looking forward to touring and celebrating this year! I want thank Concord for helping to make all of this happen. And, I am excited for new ideas and a renewed interest in my music … like a revival,” said John Fogerty.

About John Fogerty
John Fogerty is a true American treasure. As leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fogerty forged a distinctive, groundbreaking sound all his own, equal parts blues, country, pop, rockabilly, R&B, swamp boogie, and Southern fried rock ‘n’ roll, all united by his uniquely evocative lyrical perspective.Fogerty is a Grammy winner and has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is the only musician to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame for his song, “Centerfield,” a staple at baseball stadiums across the country. Among Fogerty’s many hit songs, both as a solo artist and as leader of CCR, highlights include “Centerfield,” “Proud Mary,” “Susie Q,” “Fortunate Son,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” among many others.
In 2019, Fogerty celebrated 50 years in music with a worldwide tour with his show,“My 50 Year Trip.” An album, “50 Year Trip: Live at Red Rocks,” featuring a collection of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) hits, including songs from the set list of his performance at the legendary Woodstock music festival in 1969 among other fan favorites, was released on November 8, 2019.
In April 2020, while self-quarantining together the Fogerty Family, featuring John with his sons Shane, Tyler and daughter Kelsy, gathered in their home studio to play some music together. A weekly video series began and became so popular that a digital EP, Fogerty’s Factory, was released via BMG on Fogerty’s birthday, May 28, 2020.
An extended, Fogerty’s Factory full album was released on November 20, 2020. In December, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Chronicle Vol. 1 hit the milestone of charting for over 500 weeks on the Billboard 200, becoming only the eighth album to ever do so.
In early January 2021, Fogerty released his first new original solo music in eight years, “Weeping In The Promised Land.” The song is Fogerty’s definitive look back at 2020, ultimately serving as a moving tribute to those who had been affected by the pandemic, as well as those who have suffered through prejudice and injustice, with an eye on brighter days ahead. In January 2023, Fogerty made the bold and unique move to acquire a majority interest of the worldwide publishing rights to his historic CCR song catalog from Concord giving him control of his music for the first time in 50 years.

Arizona’s 2021 hands-off law demands public’s attention
Arizona Motorcycle & Safety Awareness Foundation updates the need to reduce distracted driving in the state
Arizona’s new cell phone law, Hands-Off, was put into place in 2021.
Arizona Motorcycle & Safety Awareness Foundation (AMSAF), a leading Arizona voice on the subjects of distracted driving and motorcycle training, says people need to know, understand and obey this important law because the numbers continue to rise, especially with the intense influx of people moving to Arizona from throughout the country.
“It is illegal in Arizona to talk or text on a cell phone while driving unless it is in hands-free mode,” says Mick Degn, executive director for AMSAF. “
According to the National Safety Council, distracted driving is the cause of one out of every 10 fatal accidents and results in more than 700 injuries everyday.
Degn says the law, which took effect in January 2021, prohibits the following while driving:
• making or answering a call directly on the device
• sending reading text or viewing internet data
• holding or supporting a phone with your body
• reading, writing or sending a message via any portable wireless communication device
• scrolling through social media, watching videos, recording videos, or any other use of the device that causes a distraction and requires use of the body
“Cell phones and devices must be in hands-free mode while driving,” adds Degn. “One cannot use any device or cell phone that can cause a distraction while driving. No holding of a device or cell phone in hands or perched on a shoulder or leg while driving either (House Bill 2318). These devices include cell phones, tablets, gaming and music devices. Arizona’s new statewide ban replaces 26 different local ordinances.”Arizona’s Hands-Off law allows for the following:
• one can engage or disengage a function on the device such as a GPS route start
• individuals can talk on a portable wireless communication device with an earpiece, headphone device or device worn on the wrist to conduct a voice-based communication
• one can use a device for navigation of the vehicle
• people can use a device in an emergency situation to summon help or report a crime
“Know the law, tell your friends and save a life,” says Mick Degn, AMSAF’s executive director.
Exceptions to the law include emergency responders, people in an emergency situation or alerting first responders to an emergency situation or crime. In addition, the law does not apply to radios, citizen band radios, citizens band radio hybrids, commercial two-way radios, subscription-based emergency communication devices, prescribed medical devices, amateur or ham radio devices or in-vehicle security, navigation or remote diagnostics systems.
Degn says the one thing that has assisted 11-year-old AMSAF’s growth on the subject is its strong core of leaders, volunteers, business and civic leaders who see the need for change and AMSAF’s role in outreach to the public.
“We are blessed to have been so successful to date and look forward to garnering even more support as we work diligently to save lives on our roadways,” adds Degn.
AMSAF’s mission is to promote safety and awareness and reduce crashes and fatalities. The organization is located in Peoria, Ariz.

Accident scene experts teaching riders, the public, how to reduce injuries and fatalities at the scene of a crash
January 30, 2023, Peoria, Arizona – A group of medical and nursing professionals who also ride motorcycles is offering classes to teach others what they can do to help at the scene of a motorcycle crash.
Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation (AMSAF) has partnered with Accident Scene Management (ASM), DBA Road Guardians, the most recognized motorcycle trauma training organization in the world.
Critical skills such as moving the injured, helmet removal, rescue breathing and tourniquets, all are demonstrated and practiced.
“The key to reducing motorcyclist injuries and fatalities is education,” says Teresa Martinez lead instructor for ACM.
“All of our instructors are medics or nurses and ride motorcycles,” adds Martinez. “I have taught this curriculum for 13 years and my background is pre-hospital, ED and trauma as well as serving as a trauma nurse core course Instructor. I have ridden for more than 30 years and encountered several roadside accidents. This curriculum provides crucial life saving information for non-medical trained civilians to get the ball rolling until emergency medical services arrives. We also cover Good Samaritan laws and legalities of helping at the scene. These courses offer more than basic CPR and first aid as they are motorcycle trauma specific and enhance all basic first responder education.”
“Since the beginning, AMSAF has believed in education,” says Mick Degn, executive director for AMSAF. “We began with motorcycle training, then helmet use and now accident scene management education. These programs are made possible due to grants, sponsors, donations and other partners who want to help reduce crashes and fatalities in Arizona.
AMSAF, a 501c(3) non-profit organization, works with the State of Arizona, business partners and sponsors including local businesses, healthcare, police departments, insurance, legal and other prominent entities and individuals, to help decrease the number of distracted and DUI-impaired drivers and to provide scholarships, statewide, to train motorcyclists how to ride more defensively. Our overall mission is safety awareness to reduce the phenomenal number of crashes and fatalities on our roadways.

Wishbone Ash achieved considerable success in the 1970s, during which they were among England’s most popular hard rock acts, achieving an impressive eight Top 40 albums. Often regarded as one of the premiere UK live acts of the ‘70s, they toured throughout this period and into the following decades.
1972 was one of rock music’s most memorable years for regal releases – a golden age of classic albums – “Exile On Main Street”, “Machine Head”, “The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars”, “All The Young Dudes”, “Roxy Music”, “Can’t Buy A Thrill”, “Sailin’ Shoes”, “Foxtrot”, “Demons And Wizards”, “Transformer” and “Barnstorm” – by rock royalty – The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Davie Bowie, Mott The Hoople, Roxy Music, Steely Dan, Little Feat, Genesis, Uriah Heep, Lou Reed and Joe Walsh. Not least among these amazing artists and records was Wishbone Ash and their groundbreaking album “Argus”.
As they reigned supreme through the ‘70s, Wishbone Ash was centered on inspired musicianship, joyful spirit and inventive songs. Their concerts were uplifting and their recorded work sublime. “Argus” remains a stunning highpoint in the band’s startling repertoire. This is a vital addition to the Wishbone Ash catalogue.

[TUCSON, ARIZONA, January 12th] The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson (BGCT) turns 65 years old in 2023. It will celebrate its 65th anniversary across the entire year with a series of unique campaigns, events, and community projects.
To commemorate its 65th anniversary, BGCT plans on a year-long series of unique activities, including events involving alumni and special fundraiser campaigns. In celebration of the sapphire year it has put together an advisory committee made up of prominent Tucson community innovators and BGCT supporters.
Projects that will kick off this year include a special WiFi hotspot garden installation at the Steve Daru Clubhouse location that will offer free WiFi to any youth who attends. WiFi inequality is one of the leading challenges BGCT’s youth face, with lack of access to internet impacting school performance. The garden will also provide members with an opportunity to grow their own fruit and vegetables, learning about gardening practices, and will also allow BGCT to bring academic programming outdoors in the event of future pandemic impact. It will positively affect thousands of youth for years to come. This is possible due to a partnership with COX Media and support from the Simone Foundation.
Other projects launching this year include the multi-layered project of transforming an existing Clubhouse location into a Teen Tech Center whose aim will be workforce development for teens in various tech industries. Annually hundreds of youth attending will receive in-depth mentoring and training on building career pathways in tech and trade vocations, from chip-building to digital marketing.
BGCT’s primary aim this year is to use the 65th to both celebrate its vibrant history and as an opportunity to reach even more in-need youth. From its 2022 data, over 90% of the organization’s 2700 youth members served come from low income households, 85% belong to traditionally underserved minority ethnicities/races, 72% qualify for free/reduced school lunches, and 45% live in single-parent homes. Some projects will be partially funded by philanthropist MacKenzie Scott’s $3.5 million gift the organization received last year.
For 65 years the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson has helped keep thousands of local children involved in after school and summer programming. The Clubs have resumed regular after school programming, offering daily access to a broad range of programs in five core areas: Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health & Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness, and Recreation. The organization currently serves youth ages 7-18 at its six local Clubhouse locations. Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson is a qualifying charity for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit (QCO 20282). “The stewardship and community support of BGCT throughout the past 65 years has been inspirational and is certainly worthy of celebration. The organization has grown and thrived over time and will make an even greater impact on Tucson’s underserved youth in the future. This year’s planned community garden and internet hotspot, as well as the soon to be built Teen Tech Center, are prime examples of how well the organization adapts and is changing with the times.” -Ilene Sipe, BGCT Board Program & Personnel Committee ChairPosted by Entertainment Magazine
“In 65 years the entire world can change numerous times over. 65 years can be the lifetime of a single individual, or an earmark in chapters of generations. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson have touched both, changing the trajectories of communities for the better. That the organization has been champions for Tucson’s most in-need youth for so long, remaining steadfast in their commitment to deliver quality programming even amidst rapidly-changing times, is a testament to its impact on Tucson. I could not be more proud to be spearheading our 65thyear alongside such a passionate board of advisors. I also must acknowledge the incredible staff in our Clubhouses, the gifted individuals who work with our youth daily. Together, we want all of Tucson this year to know about the work we do, to reach deeper into communities who need us, and to celebrate the giants whose shoulders we stand on. This year, we are all BGCT.” -Denise Watters, CEO
